⋅⋅⋅UNNATURAL∴HABITATS⋅⋅⋅

My “Unnatural Habitats” series of sewn wood tapestries explores loss and recomposition using materials collected from the disintegrating Mississippi River Delta. Informed by geological and personal research from the region, works act as location specific shrines, directly referencing where materials were collected. I stitch wood together with waxed thread, layering to create flowing, organic forms that protrude from the walls and create intricate shadows. My use of sewing assigns value to feminine craft as a contemporary form of making.
