This in-progress sculptural series “Kinesthesia” examines disembodiment and spatial relation. Using stained wood forms and ceramic details, I attempt to resolve a mind/body disconnection through conjoining colorful wood shapes into disjointed, intentionally awkward forms. I draw from my experience of body dysmorphia as a genderqueer person, as well as my loss of proprioception experienced after a severe accident. Each piece mimics bodily spatial relations; individually these works act as personal vignettes.
